Living Yoga was established in Taupo in 2006, when Andrew and I moved to New Zealand from Australia. We thank all of our students who, over the years, have helped make our studio the success it is today - Fiona xo
Here in New Zealand we are lucky enough to practise Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga primarily under the guidance of a wonderful teacher Peter Sanson (certified by the AYRI, Mysore). We also attend workshops with renowned teachers John Scott and Dena Kinsberg. In January - March 2010 we lived in Mysore, India and studied at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute with Sharath Jois (www.ayri.org). Extra studies also included Sanskrit chanting and Yogic philosophy and meditation with Dr M. A. Jayashree and Professor Narasimha, and Yoga anatomy/physiology with Noah McKenna. Fiona Links - Yoga Teacher and Craniosacral Therapist
Fiona has been practising Yoga since 1995 and teaching since 2000. She is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (YA200) and Upledger Craniosacral Therapist. Fiona started practising Yoga to help improve her breathing and back pain during her university studies. She has taught in Sydney and Hobart (The Yoga Point), Tasmania. She visited India in 2010, where she studied Yoga, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Chanting and Meditation. Fiona is passionate about using Yoga in daily life, as preventative medicine and therapeutic treatment. She loves the science of Yoga, the depth of theory and how good it makes her feel.
After moving to New Zealand, she completed preliminary teacher training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for Beginners with John and Lucy Scott at Stillpoint Yoga, Nelson. In 2010-11 she gained a YA200 teaching certificate in Ashtanga Yoga through the Auckland Yoga Academy (Jude Hynes and Peter Nilsson).
Andrew has been a devoted student of Yoga since 1988, starting with Iyengar Yoga and then moving into Ashtanga in 1994 (under the guidance of Peter Nilsson and Jude Hynes, Auckland Yoga Academy). He was an occasional assistant teacher to Lyndel Dean while in Tasmania (The Yoga Point), and is assistant teacher at Living Yoga when not working as a Geothermal Geologist.
